Flare Jeans
The Old Navy flare jeans are a modern take of the once upon a time bell bottom jeans. Just without the drastic size of the bottom. Although they may look like they could be boot cut, the flare is a bit bigger. They are fitted all the way through the waist to just below the knee where they do flare out.
I don't know what it is about these jeans, but I love them. As someone who usually wears skinny jeans 90% of the time, these are a cut of jeans that I find myself being comfortable in as well as being confident. If you are someone who likes high waisted jeans, these might be something to look into. Especially if you like a pair of jeans that make your butt look good. I feel that these jeans are a good cut on almost every body type. If you just so happen to have a body type like me and have hip dips, it will do wonders for your figure. In some cases with jeans that are fitted around the hips area, you can tell the dips are there. The cut of these will actually round you out and give you more of a hourglass figure, especially with them being such a high waist.
The only thing you may want to look out for is the stretch of the jeans. Half of the flares have give and the other half doesn't. For those who have bigger thighs and butt, it might be a good idea to do the tug test on the legs. If you don't know what that is, it's exactly as it sounds. Just take the thigh area of the jeans while they are still folded in both your hands, one on each side and just give it a small tug. The more give it has, the more you'll be able to move in it and sit comfortably in. The less give it has, may give you the feeling of being restricted and may leave you feeling slightly uncomfortable by the end of the day.
One key thing to keep in mind while shopping for the flare jeans is your height. It may seem like a weird thing to keep in mind, but with Old Navy jeans I have found that your height plays into how any of the jeans will fit height wise. If you are on the shorter side like I am, you may find that the legs are just a tad too long and you step on them. That is ok believe it or not. A way that I found too combat this is to wear a pair of shoes that has a heal on them. Wether it is a pair of wedges, heals, or boots with a heal, it gives you just enough height to keep them from dragging. If you are on the taller side, you won't have this issue as much. I had a female customer come in who was about 5'9" give or take asking if we carried longs or talls in store. After explaining to her that we don't typically carry those, I suggested to her that she tries on the flares because of the length of the jeans and her height. She ended up walking away with about 2 or 3 pairs because they were jeans she was comfortable in and was able to wear regular size in and didn't have to order online just to get jeans that might have been too long for her.
If you ever get the chance to go into Old Navy, I do suggest asking where the flare jeans are and giving them a try on just to see if they are a pair that you may end up liking.
